Our History

 

 

1988

St. Symonds Street at Andrew Church, 22 people including Nam Chang Kyun, Kim In Hee family, three Korean family members, and 4 students gathered for a special worship service in Auckland area by the pastor, Pastor Kim Yong Hwan of the Wellington Korean Church.
There was a Foundation Worship Service at the St David Church on Khyber Pass Road with the introducer of Pastor Yong-Whan Kim.
Auckland Korean Church has a special meeting with all 16 persons - Rev. david, Rev. Stuwart, Rev. Allen, Rev. Yong Whan Kim, Rev. No Young Park, Rev. Ok Yoon Jang, Chang Kyun Nam, Kyung Duk Chang, Shin Suk Lee, Suk Tae Choi, Yung Goo Choi, Myung Soo Lee, Hyung Joo Kim, Woo Duk Lee, Jae Hong Min – respectively. announcement of pastor Jang Ok Yoon 's call decision to Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand.
PCANZ and the Methodist Church(Council for Mission of Methodist and Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, Rev. Allan Leadley) appointed pastor Jang Okyoon as a temporary pastor.
The Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea(PROK)’s Moderator (Rev. Park Bong Yang) and The Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ) concluded a mission agreement and decided to establish a Korean Community Church in St David's Church. Rev. Jang Okyoon was sent as a missionary from PROK and the PCANZ invited Rev. Jang Okyoon as a senior pastor.

1989

Pastor Jang Ok Yoon gave his first worship service.
Pastor Jang Ok Yoon was inaugurated as the pastor of the PCANZ, and served as Pastor of the Auckland Presbytery. (This worship was attended by about 500 pastors and elders and about 50 people from Auckland)
There were the first baptism ceremonies (5 adults and 7 infants) in the Korean church.
Korean language school was opened. (New Zealand's first Korean language school)
Christmas celebration performance was held on the occasion of the event of all Korean community. (Christmas celebrations were held with about 500 people from all the Koreans and Kiwis)

1990

The first board meeting was organized and conducted.
A secondary student body was organized.
Young people's mission was organized and young people's Saturday rally was carried out.
Opened a bazaar for the purchase of church vehicles. (Van)

1991

Church Newspaper Weekly Christian Newspaper was published and became the first newspaper of the Korean Community.
Wonju Yonggang Church Pastor Seo Jae Il served as a lecturer and held the first revival worship. On the last day of the revival worship , there was a sisterhood ceremony with Wonju Yonggang Church.

1992

The operation of the church's library began.
Women's missions were divided into three women's missions (1st, 2nd, 3rd) by age.

1993

The worship service in the Friday began every other week.
Newlyweds' meeting The Young Couples Mission was organized.

1994

There was a worship service for the 6th anniversary of the founding of the church.
The board of Church decided to build the Church buildings.
The Church invited Rev.Joong Pyo Lee, from Seoul Hanshin Church as a lecturer and held a revival worship.

1995

In the congregation, elders, ordination deacons, and deaconess were sought. (Elder: Jang Hyun Joong / Deacon: Kim Soo-Myung, Shin Ji Hee, Whang Chung Soo / Deaconess : Kim Ki Sook, Yang So Im)
The moderator made up the architectural committee and appointed the deacon Chang Hyun Joong as the convener.
We made a voluntary offering for the building of the Church.

1996

The church's committee (PARISH COUNCIL) was organized. (Convenor: Jang Ok-yoon / Member: Jang Hyun Joong. Hwang Chung Soo, Kim Soo-Myung, Kim Kyung-tae, Kim Jong-hoon)
(Elder: Jang Hyun Joong / Deacon: Kim Soo-Myung, Shin Ji Hee, Whang Chung Soo, Kim Soo Myung, Kim Jong Hoon, Kim Kyung Tae / Deaconess: Park Kyung ja, Sunwo Gil Ja, Jang Tae Ja)
The church has joined the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand as an independent church, and the Auckland presbytery has organized the INDUCTION SERVICE by pastor Jang Ok Yoon.
The Church invited Pastor Woo Ung Yoo of Do Rim Church in Seoul to hold a revival worship and had a sisterhood ceremony at the last worship service.

1997

There were athletic events for the eighth anniversary of the foundation.
We celebrated the eighth anniversary of foundation.
At the congregation meeting, they elected that the deacons Kim Jong Hoon was the elder, the deacons Shin Se Young and Kim Jang Ho were the Deacons, and Yang Soim, Park Okja, Seo Baekhwa, and Kim Kyungja as the called deaconess.
We kept the first South Pacific missionary week and decided to keep the last Sunday of July every year in the South Pacific missionary week. Scholarships were given to six new students at Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Vanuatu.
There was an induction ceremony for the elders, deacons, and deaconess. (Elder: Jong Hoon Kim / Deacon: Shin Se Young, Kim Jang Ho / Deaconess : Kim Kyung Ja, Yang So Im, Park Ok ja, Seo Baek Hwa)
There was a bazaar for the building of the church by the Davide Mission.

1998

Invited Rev. Kim Dae-sun of Jeonju Shin Hoong Church and held a revival worship.
The congregation held a second offering for the purchase of a new church building in Henderson.
At the congregation, the PCANZ decided to borrow $ 500,000 to purchase the church building.
We invited Pastor Jeon Byeong-gum of Gangnam-gu, Seoul and held a revival worship.
The Church started building a new renovation.

1999

There was a worship for the 10th anniversary of foundation.
The New worshiped in the new church building in Henderson (About 700 people from the church members and guest)
The Church held a revival worship with pastor Shin Ikho as the lecturer.
New Church dedication service: We gave a new church dedication service at 4 pm. Worship services were provided by representatives of the PCANZ and the Auckland Presbytery, as well as a number of distinguished guests who assisted our church. Rev. John Evans, Pastor Auckland, Pastor Sue Jacobi, Pastor Alan Leadley, Pastor of New Zealand, Director General of the New Zealand Mission and Overseas Alliance Mission, and Pastor Alan Leadley, There were orders to present appreciation plaques to the Korean Christian Presbyterian Church, Jin Ju Jeil Church, St.David Church and seven other people who helped to establish and build the church.
Ambassador Mun Bong-joo's (deacon's) Bible study (topic: Catch the Bible) began. (6 months)
Pastor Kim Young-gil of the So Mang Church in London, England, will come to the Sabbath and take on the pulpit on behalf of the pastor who is in charge of the pilgrimage. (October 24 - November 21)
A congregational meeting was held to elect Kim Kyung Ja, Kim Soo Myung, Shin Se Yong, Hwang Chung Soo as elders. Park Joon Sang, Lee Kyung Yoon, Lee In Gap, Jung Geum Yong, and Cha Jea Sung as inducted deacons, Ko Young Ja, Park Jin Hwa, Lee Won, Lee Chung Sil as a deaconess.

2000

The PCANZ Asian Church Union meeting was held in the church.
The Church invited Pastor Cho Duk-Hyun of New York Korean Church in New York to hold a special revival worship.
There was the ordination and worship service of the elder and deacons. (Elders: Kim Kyungja, Kim Soo Myung, Shin Se Young, Hwang Jung Soo / Ordained Deacon: Park Joon Sang, Lee In-Kap, Jung Gum Yong, Cha Jae Sung / Deaconess : Ko Young Ja, Park Jin Hwa, Lee Won, Lee Chung Sil)
Pastor Park Joon-ok of the Yongsan First Church in Seoul has been appointed to the church as a missionary of the Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea.
A Bazaar for the whole South Pacific mission was held.

2001

The Church had a worship service for the 12th anniversary of the founding of the church and held a physical athletic meet at Falls Park. I had a Sunday service for the 12th anniversary of foundation. (The 12th anniversary of the first worship service in 1988)
The Church invited Pastor Kim Kwang-jo of Seoul Gongdeok Church as a lecturer and held a revival worship to celebrate the founding of the church.
Some teaching rooms of this church have been started to be rented by Maori Elementary School.

2002

There was a ceremony for the 14th anniversary of the founding. (4 pm) (Deacons : Lee Yong Woon, Seo Han Choon, Im Ik Chan, Lee Sang Ho, Deaconess: Shin Hye Ryeon, Lee Kyung Sook)
The Church invited Pastor Yoon, Duksoo of Gangbuk Primary Church in Seoul held a 14th anniversary revival worship.
Edmonton Music Festival.

2003

Our church and the Kangbuk First Church made a sisterhood relationship as a cooperation church of the South Pacific Ocean mission and had a sisterhood ceremony on June 8 (Sunday) at Gangbuk First Church.
General congregation meeting and New Missions : Newly organized in consideration of the age group of men and women.
We had a KOSTA meeting in our church. (Lecturer: Pastor Myeong Soo (lawyer), Pastor Song Myeong Jin)

2004

For Celebration of Church Foundation - (11th), faith retreat (18th - 20th), foundation memorial service (22th), whole school physical education (22th), church history photo exhibition (11th - 25th), Bible Quiz Competition (25th),There was a memorial art festival (27th).
In the congregational meeting, we took an ordained deacon and deaconess. (Deacons : Oh Yong Goon, Yoo Young Sun, Hong Song Dae, Deaconess : Kang Soon Ja, Kim Eun Jung, Kim In Hee, Park Hang Sook, Lee Kyung Sean, Lee Chung, Jung Sooung Hee, Cho Chung Ja)
PCANZ of Asia Churches hele a union worships in the KPCA.

2005

For Celebration of Church Foundation - (February 20), Dr. Kim Won-bae's invited lecture (February 18), the commemorative music festival (February 19), the whole school athletic meet (February 20 th) ), And Church History Photo Exhibition (February 13-27).
Hosted a temporary meeting of the PCANZ for Asian churches.
Vanuatu left short-term missions.
The Church had a night of praise for the middle and high school children.

2006

Middle and high school retreat held at Muriwai Camp.
Maori Church & Korean Church worship service at Henderson Intermediate School Hall.
There was an elder, an elder deacon, and deaconess in the congregation. (The elders were Lee Kyung Yoon, Cha Jae Sung, Jung Gum Yong, Lee Yong Yoon, Deacons were Yoon Chang Ho, Yoon Yong Chan, Nam Chang Kyun, Shin Hyun Kook, Lee Chang Yoon, Hong Soo Young, Chun Chul Nam, Oh Se Sung, Deaconess were Woo In Rea, Kim Young Hee)
The PCANZ and The Auckland Presbytery appointed Pastor Douglas Mansil as the interim moderator.

2007

Summer retreats of middle and high school use 'us! (Use me!) 'At Muriwai Beach (Houghton Camp).
Pastor Kim Jong Hee, who works at Yongsan First Church in Seoul, will take charge of the church exchange.

2008

The Summer retreat for middle and high school students was held at Muriwai Beach Motor Camp on the theme of 'Heavenly Father's Heart'.
The pastor Jang Ok Yoon started his normal ministry.
The youth retreat was held at the Hunua YMCA Camp on “Christian 24/7” title.

2009

The summer retreat of middle and high school was held at Hunua Presbyterian Camp under the theme 'God's precious person'.
There was a special New Year morning prayer meeting in 2009.
The winter retreat of the Youth Missionary (Narraya) was at Carey Park Christian Camp on the theme of 'Becoming an Unconditional God'.
There was a financial report, and an ordination deacon and deaconess at the church board and the joint assembly. (Deacon - Choi Jong Sik, Yoon Chang Ho, Cha Soo Hwan, Seo Myung Gung, Lee Sang Gyo, Nam Chang, Lee Chang Yoon, Ahn Jae Hong, Park Han Ik, Jung Cho San. Deaconess – Woo In Rea, Ko Myung Ok, Jung Sang Mi, Kim Young Hee, Kim Go En, Jung Culala, Jang Tae Ok, Yoo Myung Hee, Kim Joo Young)
A special education program for ordained deacons (ordination) was carried out.

2010

The summer retreat was held at the Hunua Presbyterian Camp on the theme of 'Always'.
There was a ceremony for the founding of the church on Feb. 21, an ordained service for worship and ordination, a memorial concert for the foundation on February 27, and an outdoor worship service for the foundation on February 28.
There was a faith retreat for the deacons and deaconess.
The pastor Jang Ok Yoon of the church held an exchange ministry with Pastor Lee Young Il of the Korean Church in Berlin for a month.
The night of the 19th middle and high school praise was held in the musical "Joseph of Dreams".

2011

The summer retreat for middle and high school students was held under the theme 'It will start from me.'
In celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the foundation of the church, we have selected a church member who has dedicated a special dedication to the founding and development of this church, and gave thanks and awards for the 23rd anniversary of the foundation of the church. (Winner: Nam Chang Kyun) There was a competition.
The pastor Jang Ok Yoon of the church held an exchange ministry with Pastor Yun Hong Sung of Gwangsan Church in Gwangju.
6.25 Veterans Invitational Festival (Music Festival) was held in the church.
The 14th Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad (KPCA) held in Calvary Church attended the New Zealand Presbytery (regular presbytery) as a full-time member of Korean Presbyterian Church. As most of the churches and pastors are members of the Korean Presbyterian Church abroad, the church became a dual church in both churches. The Korean Presbyterian Church abroad is a Korean Presbyterian Korean Church with a presbytery in each country, centered on the United States. The elder, who has been selected as Pastor and Sister, will attend the Presbytery in Korea and the General Assembly abroad.

2012

The Secondary Summer Retreat was held at the Hunua Christian Camp on the theme of "Never Ending Acts."
There were worship service for the 24th anniversary celebration and athletic meet for the whole school. Missionary to the United Church of Canada for the commemoration of worship service (for many years at the General Presbytery of Korean Christian Presbytery). Missionary Mary Collins gave a sermon.
6.25 A feast of 6.25 veterans for veterans was held.
In the congregation meeting, there was the ordination and worship service of the elder and deacons. (Elders: Nam Chang Kyun, Deaconess:Kim Go En, Jung Woon Kyung, Kim Kyung Ok)
The Church invited pastor Kwon Tae-il of Incheon Sarangbat Church as a lecturer and held a faith revival meeting for the whole school with the theme, "Call me as a missionary of evangelism."
The 20th Temptation was held at the middle and high school, and the 20th Auckland Korean Church of the High School had a night of praise.

2013

The Secondary Summer Retreat was held at Camp Molley (Papakura) on the theme of 'Diaspora Blue Generation'.
The 25th anniversary commemoration ceremony was held on February 17th, the outdoor worship service and the physical education tournament for the whole family, the 25th anniversary commemorative music festival (Edmonton Music Festival) on February 22nd, the worship service and the ceremony for the foundation on February 24th. (Chang Kyun Nam as an elder, Yong Chan Yoon as a deacon, Kyung Ok Kim as a deaconess)
6.25 Veterans get a New Zealand Champion Invitation.
In the congregational meeting, we took an ordained deacon and deaconess. (Deacons : Kim Young Gyum, Koo Bon Goo, Byun Myung Goo, Jang Jin Suk, Yoon Min Kyu. Deaconess : Whang Yoon Jung, Jun Hanna, Sue Mi Ra, Bang Kyun Ok, However, Byun Myung-Ku, Jang Jin-suk, and Yoon Min-kyu have accepted this issue for the personal reasons and will accept it at the session)
After the worship service, the Presbytery of the PCANZ announces the dissolution of the Presbytery with the decision of Pastor Jang Ok Yoon.
The KPCA Cooperation Committee was formed at the board meeting of the KPCA.
The children bible camp was held.
We are going to celebrate the night of the 21st high school praise until October 5th.
Invitation Sermon: Rev. Kim Dae Gil, Pastor of Haenam Yangmuri Church, will take a sermon.
Pastor Peter Bristow was elected to the interim ministry of the church in the Northern Presbytery.
Preacher: Pastor Cho Chung Man, who is the associate pastor of Seoul Sebyuk Church, will come here as an invitation ministry.
There was a congregation meeting by Peter Bristow, the interim moderator. Eight members of the KPCA will be elected to the Call of the Ministry as Whang Chung Soo, Shin Se Young, Nam Chang Kyun, Suh Han Choon, Lee Chang Yoon, Park Han Ik, Cho Hee Sook, Jang Jin Suk.

2014

The congregation decided to call Rev. Cho Chung Man in the Korean Presbyterian Church of Auckland.
As a result of the January 26 congregation, the Northern Presbytery of the PCANZ approved the confirmation of Pastor Cho Chung Man.
